#1I should be back living at home with my wife and offspring in the next day or two. This has been a difficult period of time, but a valuable experience. I enjoyed drinking coffee and eating oatmeal with my mother in the mornings, working on the new/old boat, and Georgia stories are funnier when I'm not there.
#2Leslie has done such a good job with her recent posts that I've offered her a permanent spot on the roster here at Time of the Preacher. Rumor has it that she slept her way to the top, but I don't hold it against her.
#3No one responded to the posting of the planks of the Commie Manifesto. I invite you to scroll down and take another look. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that, in some form, all of those planks have been implemented here in the USA. Not just since O'Bama's election, this has been brewing for a while now, but is manifesting itself more each day with this new administration. I'd also add that socialism looks good on paper, but it never ever works. If you are interested, read or see Dr. Zhivago or Animal Farm or read some of the writings of the founders of this nation.
I've heard it said recently that Jesus and the earliest Christians were a socialists. I disagree. They believed in giving freely of what you have, not having it taken from you. "But what about Ananias and Sapphire in Acts 5?", you might ask. Their sin was not in withholding some of the proceeds of the sale, but in attempting to deceive the apostles by saying they had given all.
#4Word on the street is that yesterday my great-uncle notarized and mailed the documents that I need to register the boat. I found a motor for sale in Granger that I'm going to look at in a couple of days. I got a trailer a few days ago and am ready to take the boat home with me. Amen.
#5Dad and I went bank fishing yesterday evening. Caught 3 crappie. I did the Biblical thing and ate them for breakfast today(John 21:12). It's that time of year. I'm ready to get home and fill the freezer. In honor this fish I've changed the colors of the background here at TotP to match their markings.

Brother, you are by far my favorite blogger.
Sister
Oh, I didn't mean in comparison to Leslie. I meant that your blog is my favorite to read. I'm actually glad to get both perspectives.
I couldn't agree more about the Communist thing...I have heard the same thing before (that Jesus was a socialist) and it doesn't hold water with me. First off, I don't think he was too concerned with earthly governments as he seemed to be constantly preaching about something called "The Kingdom of God." Huh. Second, he recognized the danger of FORCING others to do what they ought to. It leads to empty, meaningless actions. Now, that being said, I do think that in practice we as Christians should probably take a bit more interest in the plights of others and give FREELY to help those in need, perhaps even RADICALLY. THAT is what would make the world step back and take notice, not if our tax code demands that we pay for the welfare of others. This is why I am a libertarian...
